Goodbye, Summer

Even though summer doesn't technically end until later, in my book it ends the day after Labor Day. It's a little bittersweet to say goodbye to the long, lazy, hot days; to the weeks off from work, the camping weekends, vacations, days spent by the pool, etc. So I made sure to enjoy every minute of my last weekend of summer!

Friday I spent the day at lots of garage sales, and shopping with my mom and sister. We couldn't believe how many great garage sales there were this weekend! I only bought a few things, but it was fun :-) Friday night I met Luke at Carrabbas since we had a gift certificate for there. We sure love that place!! I ordered the Pasta Carrabba this time, and I think it's my favorite thing to order there now. Have you ever had it?? It was delicious!

Saturday I left the house at 8:00 to head to Canton and watch Luke's church softball team play games all day at a Labor Day tournament. (Side note: I stopped at Starbucks on the way and finally tried a pumpkin spice latte...it was so delicious!! I hope to enjoy more of those as fall gets underway ;-) If you've never tried one...you need to!!) Unfortunately, Luke's team only won 1 of 4 games. But it was a fun day, anyway! We had lots of breaks between games, so the girls had a chance to hit the town and shop a little bit. After the games were over, Luke and I came home, ate a frozen pizza for dinner, and relaxed for the rest of the evening. It was great!

Sunday after church we had MORE softball games on the agenda. Luke and his friends are just REALLY into softball this year! He is in a fall league and they play on Sunday afternoons. This is the third softball team Luke has been on this year! Yesterday they had a double header and they easily won both games. So they redeemed themselves a little bit after Saturday's tournaments ;-) After the games, we stopped at Dairy Queen for some ice cream (what's a ball game without ice cream afterwards?!) I had the banana cream pie blizzard and it was amazing! I highly recommend it.

Sunday evening there was a bonfire at Luke's parents' house. We ate pizza pies and s'mores, and had a fun time together. I made sure to get a picture of what is sure to be one of the last bonfires of the season. There was copper and green garden hose in the fire to make it all kinds of cool colors:After the bonfire, Luke went to play volley-ball with some friends at the church, and I headed over to my parents' to hang out since my sister is going back to college tomorrow, and who knows when she will make it home for another weekend. Luke and I finally got home at around midnight, and crashed.

Today our plans keep changing. First we were going to head to the Cleveland Air Show, then we changed our minds and decided to head to Cedar Point, and then we changed our minds again and thought about maybe going to the fair. All of those ideas fell through, so I was expecting to spend the day getting the house back in order. I have been majorly lazy this weekend! But Luke just told me that his aunt and uncle are having a fish fry tonight, so I guess we have plans now! I'll still spend the day cleaning and making a side dish for later, but tonight we'll go to the fish fry, and hopefully see the tiny kittens who are living right next to his aunt and uncle's house! Maybe I better stay away from them, though, because every time I see them, I want to take one home with me! And there's one that looks just like Gabby :-)

So all of these things have been great ways to spend the last weekend of summer. Tomorrow it's back to work, but after this long weekend, I'm ready! I hope this weekend was fun and restful for you as well!
