Date Night 8: Post-Christmas Shopping

Luke and I had a date night on Saturday. It was actually a date DAY, if we're being technical. Anyway, we went out to use the gift cards we had received for Christmas.

First stop of the day: Barnes and Noble. Luke wanted to pick up this book:
So, so funny, because it's so, so true!! I had fun skimming through it on the way home, and reading the extra funny ones out loud. But I'm getting ahead of myself...

Next stop was Kohls, where we each had a gift certificate, compliments of Luke's grandparents! We spent FOREVER in there, as usual. I ended up buying a nice pair of black, flat boots. I can't seem to find a picture, but they looked very similar to this:
I'm excited, because I've needed a pair for so long! Luke bought two nice shirts, and a Russian hat, like this one (except his is black). He loves it.
At least it's not this hat:
Next was Best Buy. I usually start zoning out and daydreaming in Best Buy, because I'm just not interested in electronics. Luke had fun though, and he bought 3 new blu-rays. The boy loves his movies!

After Best Buy we went to a late lunch at Applebees. My aunt and uncle had gotten us a gift card, so it was a free meal! We both had a good time eating, and discussing which apps I should get when I get my iPhone in a month!! (I'm finally crossing over to the dark side. And by that I mean that I'm finally giving into the smartphone temptation).

Following lunch, we headed to Dicks Sporting Goods. The Peyton Hillis jersey I got Luke for Christmas didn't fit him, and he wouldn't have been able to wear it until next football season anyway since the Browns are done, so he traded it in for some Under Armour gear. We spent what felt like forever in there while the burger I had just eaten at Applebees started slowly killing me. My stomach pains are back with a vengeance... I knew I should have ordered chicken instead!

As I mentioned earlier, on the ride home, I read aloud from the "Stuff Christians Like" book, and overall it was a great date-day!

I get to pick the next date night! Any creative date ideas for me?? January is so boring, and I just don't have any good ideas. Plus, all I feel like doing is staying at home wrapped up under 4 blankets all the time to stay warm! Any suggestions would be welcome!

  2. Sounds like a fun date - especially with gift cards! Andrew is taking me shopping as part of my Christmas gift this weekend so I'm excited.

I've seen that Stuff Christians Like book on Dave Ramsey's site. One of these days I'll get around to finding a good deal on it and get it. :)

How about playing board games or going bowling for one of your dates? It's not that expensive, and still fun

  6. Sounds like a wonderful day!! Yay for getting to go shopping.

Lately, we've been watching old television re-runs, and making homemade goodies (s'mores, hot chocolate, lattes).
