At the restaurant, we had burgers and fries right in the comfort of Luke's truck. I ordered a Dr. Pepper, and I wish I had known the drinks were served in these big root beer mugs. It just didn't feel right drinking Dr. Pepper outta this...I should've ordered root beer!
The food was delicious! And when we were done, it was time to head to the drive-in so we could find a good parking spot for the double feature
After paying for our tickets, we received our change in $2 bills! So cute. This is all just part of the drive-in experience.
We parked and set up the truck. We know how to do the drive-in right! We put our old futon mattress in the bed of the truck, packed away a bunch of blankets just in case it got cold (which it didn't! Yay!) And pile the pillows in the back. It is the most comfortable/romantic movie experience, if you ask me. complete comfort while watching, plus you are out in the open breathing fresh air with a tapestry of stars surrounding everything :-)
(Notice we were like the first ones there. lol...although there were other cars behind us. We didn't want to get stuck with a bad spot!
We had about 30-45 minutes to wait until the movie started. So we laid (layed? lay? not good with this verb) in the truck, under the open sky, and played "Words with Friends" on Luke's iphone. As you can see, the iphone really does come in handy on date nights!
And then it was time for the movie to start! we were nice an full from our dinner, we were beyond comfortable, our portable radio was sitting on the side of the truck, blaring with the echo of bunches of other radios in the air, the sun was setting...perfect!
There are two different screens showing two different sets of movies. We chose to have a horror flick night, and viewed the screen that was showing "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "The Crazies." I haven't seen a scary movie since probably October, so I figured, why not? I don't like to watch them too often, but Luke really likes them. Anyway, both movies were pretty good. I fell asleep during the second one, but caught most of the action at the end. And Luke tells me it was good. Ha! I knew I wouldn't be able to stay awake through the entirety of both movies!
I was NOT, however, going to fall asleep during Nightmare on Elm Street! lol...the entire movie is about people falling asleep and then being terrorized in their nightmares. So trust me, it was easy to stay awake during that one ;-)
Between the movies, they play a little intermission show on the screen full of vintage videos. This is one of my favorite parts of the evening! It really made me feel like it was the 50s ;-)
So the whole night was just such a great date night! Except for the fact that we had some really annoying people parked down the row from us. I have not heard offensive language like they used since probably high school. And during the second movie, they were completely done with watching it and they were practically screaming and laughing the whole time. Luke was getting so mad!! It was just really rude. And then there was also the time between movies when this guy jumped up behind our truck and kept saying "Freddy Krueger!" Wow. So annoying. We decided next time we will go on a night when they are showing family movies so it will be more of a family atmosphere with less idiots :-P
So anyway, if you have never been to a drive-in theater before, I hope this post made you want to go! It is definitely a good time, and a fun experience (despite the annoying people!)

Wow, that sounds so neat! And I've recently become a big fan of A&W since they are a BIG deal here in Canada!
