Not Ready...

I've been trying to ignore the fact that I have a measly 2.5 weeks left of my summer break. But today it has been on my mind a lot. I'm slightly feeling ready to go back to work, because I miss being on a routine. But I'm really going to miss summer this year :-(

On Tuesday my cousin Rachel and I went out to lunch at a restaurant called Andrea's Garden. I had never been there before. It is an adorable little place, and everything on the menu is made from 100% natural ingredients. I got tomato corn chowder and a salad. It was delicious! And the spiced iced tea was to die for! So good. And Rachel and I had the best conversation over lunch. I will miss lunch dates like this when I'm sitting in the teacher's lounge with my warmed up leftovers!

Yesterday, Luke had his first tournament game for softball. His team won (yay!) and afterward everybody went swimming at my parents house. Some of us then walked down the road for some ice cream, and later, everyone met at our house for a movie. It was so much fun! I will miss staying up late like this with no real responsibilities to worry about the next morning.

And today I spent the day cleaning and getting things done. I got everything around the house done, plus I had time to go visit with my grandma all afternoon, pick up our car from the shop, (hallelujah!) and go grocery shopping. I also made French bread pizza for dinner. (Yum! This is one of my favorite, easy meals to make). My laundry is caught up, the sink is empty, I mopped the floors yesterday. I am literally caught up on everything. So there is nothing left to do tonight but indulge in an Instant Netflix movie, and maybe read some of "This Present Darkness" while Luke is at band practice. I will REALLY miss this feeling of freedom, and the peace of being caught up with everything. Because it is a very rare occasion that I feel that way during the school year!

But...I can't slow down time. And in 2.5 weeks, I will be decorating my classroom and waiting to meet my students for the 2010-2011 school year. And actually, that makes me excited. And I really can't wait for fall, either! Oh, how I love fall!

What a bittersweet feeling this is...but I think I'll try my best to live in the moment in the next few weeks. No use wasting away my last few days of summer in sadness!

  1. I would give anything to have 2.5 more weeks!!!!!!!! You lucky girl. We started yesterday and I totally need to get my attitude in check! ;) *I'm just being honest.* This is going to be a TOUGH, TOUGH year and I can't quite say I'm ready for it. Well, I don't really have a choice, but you know what I mean! :)

I already have those "I'm gonna miss..." moments and am looking forward to next summer. Ha! I guess that might have something to do with the fact that I didn't have a summer since I had 4 Master's classes. Oh well...just part of life.

Enjoy your last couple of weeks to the fullest!

    P.S. Wish I could've come for dinner...that looks FABULOUS!!!!!!
