When Do You Start?

Ahh, Christmas. I've had a Christmas countdown on the top of my iGoogle homepage since the middle of summer. (Only 50 days left, by the way!!!) And I'll probably keep it up all year next year. Every day my excitement level raises just a bit as I see that the number is growing smaller and we are one day closer to the best day of the year!

In my Christmas excitement, I have been known to break out the Christmas music in October and (dare I admit it?) even September in years past. Crazy, I know. I try to hold out until my birthday (November 6) but I usually don't make it that long. For the record, I have not listened to any yet, and don't plan to until Saturday! Go me...

Anyway, after November 6, I let myself listen to Christmas music to my heart's content. But I feel weird doing so before Thanksgiving.

So I want to know: when do you start listening to Christmas music? Are you like me, and listen to it weeks before Thanksgiving? Or are you one of those sticklers who won't listen to it until December rolls around?

Maybe it's not normal, but I can't help it! Here are some of the albums I am sure to listen to every year:

All Three Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas CDs:

The Christmas Attic

Christmas Eve and Other Stories
The Lost Christmas EveThere aren't really words to describe TSO. It is just a part of Christmas for us, and we can't wait until the concert in Cleveland the Sunday after Thanksgiving this year. I'm going to consider it to be the official opening of the Christmas season! :-)

Mariah Carey - Merry Christmas
I normally don't love Mariah Carey, but I ADORE her Christmas CD! I have been listening to this CD for many, many Christmases now. SO good.

Martina McBride - White Christmas
I love Martina McBride. This is one that I like to play in my car, volume turned up as loud as I can stand, and sing at the top of my lungs. One of my favorite versions of "O Holy Night," my favorite Christmas song, is on this CD.

Josh Groban - Noel
This is my favorite Christmas album of all time. Not including the TSO albums, because they are in a whole different category and playing field. Anyway, Josh Groban's voice gives me chills anytime of the year, but his voice at Christmastime is even better! When I lived at home, I used to listen to this one while I fell asleep sometimes. His voice is just THAT soothing, I guess!

In addition to all of those CDs, I enjoy any and all old/classic Christmas music. Pandora is my favorite thing during the Christmas season. I listen to it constantly.

I really hope I'm not the only person who listens to Christmas music so early! But I enjoy the season so much, I just want to make it last as long as possible!

  2. Haha Jess you are so funny. You probably have your Christmas CDs sitting out already ;-) I thoroughly enjoy Christmas music. The funny thing is - usually around the actual week of Christmas, I stop listening to it because my tolerance level has worn thin haha! But I have been known to belt out Christmas songs at all times of the year =)

  3. Oh, I listen to Christmas music whenever I start to feel in a Christmasy mood! It's been so warm here lately though that it's been hard to get in the spirit. I'll probably break it out in earnest the weekend before Thanksgiving, because we usually set up our tree a little early!
My sister listens to Christmas music all year 'round, and another blog friend started a long time ago too! So it's not unusual at all!

  6. We usually start sometime in October (this family LOVES Christmas) and every year we make it earlier and earlier. However this year, we've outdone ourselves by starting in JULY! We watched christmas movies, and listen to christmas songs for a few weeks in july. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that our baby girl is going to be born so close to Christmas that I just wanted to hurry it up :-) haha
