Saturday was a day full of busyness and projects. I spent the morning working on things for my sister's bridal shower in a few weeks, and that put me in a creative mood. So for almost the entire evening, I worked on a crazy project in our bedroom that I spontaneously decided to begin. I'm sure I'll share more about it later, but I woke up the next morning wishing I had slept on it instead of diving right in! It's going to be a pretty crazy-involved and time-consuming project. BUT...I think the finished product will be WELL worth the effort. Here is a sneak peak of the wall (just for the record, our wall is not that ugly color...iPhone pictures just don't work when there is no natural light!):
That's 3 hours worth of tracing right thereSaturday also involved making deviled eggs and other Easter preparations. It was a very busy day, and I didn't end up going to sleep until about 1, only to turn around and wake up around 7 to get ready for church.
I know making deviled eggs isn't rocket science, but I'll be sharing the recipe on Wednesday
Easter morning was spent at church and it was wonderful! Not only was it great listening to the message of salvation, and great to celebrate that He has Risen! But it was also great seeing lots of people I hadn't seen in awhile and worshiping for the first time on a Sunday morning in our new sanctuary! Exciting!
(This picture was actually taken a week ago at Night of Worship, which was our first worship service ever in the new sanctuary. It was amazing)
After church it was a mad rush to visit family. We started the afternoon off with Luke's dad's side of the family where we ate a TON of delicious food! Later in the afternoon somebody brought up the subject of Words with Friends, and then everyone broke out their phones and started playing. With the other people in the room. Modern day board games, I guess! (My words with friends user name is jessicaw1106...you should play with me!)
Later we headed to my side of the family where I visited with the ladies of the family while my other half chilled in the living room and watched the Indians game with the men. After Luke met his quota of time wearing a tie for the year (his words, not mine) we got a picture so he could take it off! I told him he's going to have to suck it up and wear one at least two more times this year, because we have at least two more weddings this year, and one of them is my sister's!
Luke and I ended the evening coming home and vegging out all night. We were both exhausted! I was so ready for a night to just be a little lazy, and it was nice!
I almost forgot to show the awesome Easter gifts from our families! I think it's so sweet that Luke and I are 26 and the our parents still give us a little something for Easter. I think they are trying to fill the void since there are no grandchildren to shower with gifts yet :-P
Anyway, Luke's parents gave us a gift certificate to Applebees (which is perfect because we're going there tonight with our connect group!) and a bunch of chocolate. Again, I'm in heaven.

While at my grandparents', I also spent a lot of time drooling over my newest baby (2nd) cousins.Baby Elin, about 2 months old, with her grandma (my Aunt Beth)
Hudson, 3 months old, with his mom (my cousin Sarah)

And my parents got us these cool reusable cups...filled with even more chocolate
And I've been talking about how I want to start my own indoor herb garden, so my mom started one for me as part of my Easter gift! I was so excited about it! Puts me in the mood to cook :-)
I had such a great Easter, and I still have today and tomorrow off from work! It's been so great to have a little break. I plan on getting some more projects done for Julie's shower, and hopefully making a lot more progress on our bedroom wall. *Sigh*...what was I thinking with that?!
Your whole weekend sounded amazing! We used to have a Bob Evans near us when I was little and we loved it! I haven't been there since I was probably 8 though!
ReplyDeleteI have that same reusable cup but with a H :). I love it!
ReplyDeleteI like the tracing on the wall! And your dress is cute!
