This morning I attended, or tried to attend, the pre-trial hearing for my wedding photographer who stiffed us and 11 other couples out of their wedding photos. I got to the courthouse, was rushed all around and treated like a very important person while I filed my report (I gotta admit, it was kind of fun to feel important!) And then the police let me into the court room where the hearing was to be held. I sat there until right before it began, when an official-looking woman came in and told me that I wouldn't be able to stay for the hearing since I had just filed my report. Bummer. Luckily, my mom and sister were with me, and they were allowed to stay. They told me everything. Apparently, these things can't last longer than 15 or 20 minutes, because they are timed. So they said the whole thing was rushed. Only 3 people had time to testify, but the judge decided to take the case to the grand jury. So at that time, I will most likely be subpoenaed to appear in court. We are hoping and praying that her court date doesn't fall during our vacation time! I'm a little nervous...I've never had to do anything like this before. But if it means there is a chance that I could get my pictures or money back, I guess it's worth it. Although I'm hoping for my pictures, not the money!
A local news station was at the hearing, and my sister and mom sat right beside the door, so the camera was on them a lot. We're definitely watching the news tonight to see if they made it on! lol.
After the hearing I spent the rest of the day shopping with mom and Julie. I bought some stuff for the beach! I really can't wait until vacation!
Well I think that is all the news I have for today. I will be sure and update about the trial and any other news I find out! This is probably the most interesting thing that has happened to me in awhile, even though I wish it wasn't happening! I would much rather have my pictures right now than to be going through this!
Wow! What a busy day!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a bummer if the trial fell during your vacation... hope that doesn't happen!
