Colorado!!

I have some exciting news that is supposedly official now, so I can share it :-) Luke's band has been asked to play at a pretty big gig in a few months!

Just in case you need a quick catch-up, Luke plays in the young adult worship/rock band at our church. They play for the congregation in the young adult service every Sunday, and they have for the past 5.5 years. In the past year or so, they have been asked to play at a few concerts on the side as well. And I may be a little bit proud, but they weren't small concerts, either!

This past November, they got to lead worship for middle school at a huge youth convention in Cleveland called Youth Explosion...thousands of kids were there! (PS...this is where I ALMOST met Francesca Battistelli! lol...I was shy and she was having a bad night so I was too scared to talk to her, but I was sitting in a chair like 5 feet from her backstage. For like a half hour. She was reading a Karen Kingsbury novel, my favorite! lol...this is crossing over into creepy :-P But she is like my favorite female, Christian musician)
And, they had a big 30 Hour Famine concert at our church again in 2010

I think that catches us up to the present :-) A little while ago, the band was asked to play at its biggest gig yet...a huge youth/young adult retreat in Colorado! For all of the Evangelical Friends churches in the US (I think! Not exactly real clear on all the details at this point). Pretty exciting!

I forget the exact dates of the concert, but I know it's the last few days in December and the first few in January. So I'll possibly be in CO to ring in 2011!

I'm actually not 100% sure if I'm going or not. I thought some of the other wives were going, 2 that I thought I new for sure. But it turns out, they are both not able to go anymore, and I don't really want to be the only one just hangin around with the band again like I did at Youth Explosion. Plus I would have to fly over all by myself, and I'm a little bit of a baby because that makes me nervous! but it's Colorado! So I might just suck it up and go anyway. I've never been out West at all. I guess I will see when it gets closer to December!

Tonight the band wants to have some photos taken for promotions (I think? don't really know why! lol) and I have been recruited to take them! I'm kind of excited, but I hope I can make them look okay ;-)

More updates to come later, I'm sure! :-)

  4. Rachael, I am talking about Rachel (Jared's not going, so she's probably not either) and then Elisha Kutz...Jeremiah is basically in charge of the whole weekend (do you know them??), and she said she was planning on going, but then she found out she is pregnant and due on Christmas day! lol...so obviously she can't go.

  5. I don't know Jeremiah and Elisha... I was quite concerned because there was only Marc and JC that could be married. Lol. I don't even know if they're still in it. I really need to catch up on life in Damascus.
