Boob Tube Babble - Goodbye Michael Scott

I know I'm a little late, but I am linking up for Boob Tube Babble today!

Boob Tube Babble

Last night was a very sad night at our house as it was Steve Carell's last episode of The Office. Luke and I became die-hard Office fans about a year-and-a-half ago. Life stops for us every Thursday night at 9:00 so we can watch our favorite show!
I have mixed feelings about last night's episode. I thought it was good, and I definitely had tears in my eyes more than once, but in my opinion it wasn't as good as the Dundies episode that aired the week before. The silent goodbye with Pam was good as Michael's grand finale exit, but I thought the song that ended the episode the week before would have been a better grand finale. It would have left me with a better feeling of closure. Here's the video (ignore the last line :-P)

Luke and I both loved the Dundies episode, but were just sort of so-so about last night's episode.

I can't wait to see what they do with the show now that Steve Carell is gone. What are your thoughts on Will Ferrell taking his place? I say thumbs down to that one. I like Will Ferrell, but I have to take him in small doses because he can be a little over-the-top sometimes. Personally, I think Rainn Wilson (Dwight) could carry the show by himself! I think that just letting Michael go and not introducing anymore main characters would work better than anything else. But that's just me!

If the show ends up failing now that Steve Carell is gone, I think I have another show that is slowly becoming an absolute favorite to fall back on: Parks and Recreation.
I'm glad I finally gave this show a chance, because I had heard mixed reviews about it. It is HILARIOUS. I'd even go as far as to say that it's as funny as The Office. You definitely have to have the right sense of humor for this show. The same people who scoff at The Office probably wouldn't like Parks and Rec either. But if you are like me, you will not be able to get enough of the weird, quirky characters and hilarious one-liners. It's too much. Here's a short clip I found on youtube that gives you an idea of the humor on the show. I love Amy Pohler!

Okay, well that is enough for one day! I love this new Friday link-up, and I think I will be participating most Fridays! What can I say, I love TV!

  1. I watched the first couple of seasons of The Office and need to get back into it! That show is too funny. You posted about two comedies- do you watch Better With You, Cougar Town, The Middle, or Modern Family? Those are all great :)

  3. I love Parks and Rec and I have found this season to be funnier than The Office (I like old episodes of The Office better than the two most recent seasons). I also love watching How I Met Your Mother and Raising Hope!

  4. Ashley - I agree that the old seasons of The Office are better than the new! And Luke and I just started watching How I Met Your Mother...it's really good so far!

  5. I've watched some episodes of The Office, but I never really got into the show. I've never watched Parks and Rec. either, but it does look like a funny show.
