If you like the chocolate/peanut butter combination, this is the snack for you! They're like Clark bars, but 1,000 times better!
If you like the chocolate/peanut butter combination, this is the snack for you! They're like Clark bars, but 1,000 times better!
Here is the recipe. It's very easy to make, but messy and sticky from all the peanut butter and melted chocolate. The mess is just a small price to pay for these little pieces of heaven.
Clark Bars
Ingredients:
1 (16 ounce) package graham crackers, crumbled
1 cup melted butter
2 1/2 cups peanut butter
2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
Directions:
1. Grease a 9x13 inch pan
2. Mix graham cracker crumbs, butter, peanut butter and powdered sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Press the mixture into the prepared pan.
3. In a small pot, melt the chocolate chips and condensed milk together over low heat. Stir until melted and well mixed. Spread the chocolate mixture over the peanut butter mixture. Chill the cookie-bars for 4 hours. Cut and serve
The graham crackers add the perfect bit of crunchiness to the bottom layer. I think that's my favorite part of this whole recipe! And I will admit, these are not for everyone. Only die-hard chocolate and peanut butter lovers who enjoy VERY rich treats will love these. My husband, for example, is not a huge fan of them, because he doesn't like chocolate too much. I know, he's crazy! I like it enough for the both of us, though ;-) And I have to be careful, because these cookie bars tend to disappear quickly when I'm around! That's why I don't make them very often.
Well I'm off to my graduation parties! I am praising God for Vicodin today, seriously. I had some left over from when I had my teeth pulled, so I took one today for my neck. It hurt so bad from whatever I did to it playing water volleyball last night, that I woke up at 3:00 and got up to watch TV to try to distract myself from the pain. I went back to bed at 6, and had to wake up again at 8 for my cousin's bridal shower. So I got a total of 4 hours sleep. But I feel SOOO much better now thanks to Vicodin! I just hope it doesn't make me act too goofy tonight at the parties :-P
Have a Happy Saturday, and a Happy Father's Day tomorrow!
