July 12, 2008 Part II

Yesterday I wrote about my wedding, so today I thought I'd write about the reception.

After we were finally done with pictures at the church, we rode in a limo to the reception hall, which was only about 10 minutes away. When we got there, my breath was taken away by how beautiful everything looked! We made our entrance to "In the Mood" by The Glenn Miller Band. I LOVE this song, and thought it would be perfect to make our grand entrance. The whole wedding party was going to enter with our sunglasses on, because we just thought that would be funny. Well guess who left hers in the bag that was left in my mom's car. Yep, this girl. So I didn't really match, but that was okay :-)

My goofy brother-in-law has some pretty awesome shades :-P
Our friends Rachel and JC had fun dancing their way in :-)
And here we are, "Mr. and Mrs. Luke Wallace" for the first time! Even though I'm suglasses-less ;-)
Then it was time to eat! I was so nervous and uptight still, I had a hard time eating a lot. But I do remember that the food was delicious, and we were eating leftovers for days when we got back from our honeymoon. And it was fun being in the wedding party, because we got to eat first! But I kind of felt bad about that, because everyone else had been waiting at the reception hall for so much longer than us.
After the meal was the first dance. We danced to "When God Made You" by Newsong and Natalie Grant. That song still makes me cry every time I hear it. It's just so perfect. I posted the lyrics at the bottom of this post, just for fun!Next were the mother/son and father/daughter dances. My dad and I danced to "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. I did not want a sad song, because like I mentioned in my last post, I didn't want to cry! We just laughed and joked around during the dance, because my dad hates to dance! Luke and His mom danced to "What a Wonderful World," by Louis Armstrong. I LOVE old songs like that. I loved our DJ. He played all older, classic songs and a few country songs, since I love country so much!
Luke and I both have glowy eyes in these pictures. Creepy!
Next, I believe, was the cutting of the cake. I was pleasantly surprised when Luke didn't shove the cake in my face! Other than that little bite, I didn't eat anymore cake. I was too full! But our top layer is in the freezer at my parents' house, and we're going over to eat some later tonight. Oh, and my sister made a groom's cake for Luke as a surprise. He loved it!
We did the bouquet and garter toss next. People were so competitive! Luke's little 7-year-old cousin caught the bouquet, much to the dismay of the older bachelorettes. And the guys were actually wrestling on the floor for the Ohio State garter. I have a picture of it in my proof book, and maybe someday I'll have an actual copy of the picture on my computer (It's probably getting annoying how I keep complaining about my photographer!) One of our wedding singers/friends, Marc, finally got the garter in the end.The rest of the night was so fun. Everyone was dancing. My feet hurt so badly by the end of the evening, but I barely even noticed. It was definitely the best night of my life.
When the reception was finally over, we got into our car, which, of course, had been decorated by the wedding party. We blissfully rode off into the moonlight at about 10 or 11 that night. Good thing we were driving and not flying to Tennessee the next morning, so we didn't have to get up early and could leave whenever we wanted! I think we finally got on the road at about 9 or 9:30 on Sunday morning, for one of the best trips I've ever taken. But more on that another time :-)
------------
When Luke and I dated, it seemed like every year was different and new for us. For example, the first year we dated was like the honeymoon time, when everything was perfect. The second year realized that no relationship is perfect, but decided we wanted to work through our problems anyway. The third year we were growing into a deeper love, and that's the year we got engaged. Now that we're married, we seem to be starting all over again! This first year was definitely the honeymoon time. Everything was pretty happy, and we didn't have too many arguments. But at the same time, we grew into an even deeper love for one another, and learned how to live together. I'm excited to see what year 2 has in store!!

And just for fun, here are the lyrics to our first dance song. I first heard this song live at a Christian concert about 3 years before our wedding. I knew right then that I wanted to used it in my wedding somehow. So here it is:

It's always been a mystery to me
How two hearts could come together,
and love could last forever.
But now that I have found you I believe
that a miracle has come, when God sends the perfect one.
Now gone are all the questions about why
And I've never been so sure of anything in my life

Oh I wonder what God was thinking
when he created you.
I wonder if He knew everything I would need.
Because he made all my dreams come true.
When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.

I promise that wherever you may go
Wherever life may lead you, with all my heart I'll be there too.
And from this moment on, I want you to know
I'll let nothing come between us,
and I will love the ones you love.
Now gone are all my questions about why
And I've never been so sure of anything in my life.

I wonder what God was thinking
When he created you
I wonder if He knew everything I would need.
Because He made all my dreams come true.
When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.

He made the sun, he made the moon
to harmonize in perfect tune.
One can't move without the other,
they just have to be together.
And that is why I know it's true
you're for me, and I'm for you.
'Cause my world just can't be right
Without you in my life.

I wonder what God was thinking
when he created you.
I wonder if He knew everything I would need.
Because He made all my dreams come true.
He must have heard every prayer I've been praying
Yes, He knew everything I would need
When God made you,
(I thank God He made you,)
When dreams come true,
(You are my love, my love)
When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.
