Life in a Small Town

I love living in the tiny little town of Damascus! I am such a country girl at heart! I was listening to some of the older songs on my mp3 player, and as soon as I heard "Famous in a Small Town" by Miranda Lambert, I had to post the lyrics. This is EXACTLY what it's like living in my town. I wouldn't change it for anything, and plan on living here until the day I die :-)
Famous in a Small Town:

They say Life is so much sweeter
Through the telephoto lens of fame
Around here you get just as much attention
Cheering at the high school football game.

I dreamed of going to Nashville
Put my money down and placed my bet
but I just got the first buck of the season
I made the front page of the Turner Town Gazette

Every last one, route one, rural heart's got a story to tell
Every grandma, in-law, ex-girlfriend maybe knows you just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey, word's gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town

Tyler and Casey broke up
It ended pretty quietly
We heard he was caught red handed with her mama
So that's just what they let us all believe

Every last one, route one, rural heart's got a story to tell
Every grandma, in-law, ex-girlfriend maybe knows you just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey, word's gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town.

Baby who needs their faces in a magazine
Me and You, we were stars in the town since we were seventeen.

Let's go on down to the Quick Stop
Wear your yellow shades and I'll put on my tight jeans
And we'll just spend the weekend burnin rubber
And we'll let 'em point and stare in disbelief

Every last one, route one, rural heart's got a story to tell
Every grandma, in-law, ex-girlfriend maybe knows you just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey, word's gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town.
Everybody dies famous in a small town.

I love that the whole town shuts down every Friday night in the fall for football games. I love that I know most of the people who live here. I love that my old high school is shaped like a barn because we're known as the farm school...seriously:I love that people go TPing for entertainment, and that on the first day of deer season it becomes a ghost town. I love that 12 hours after Luke and I got engaged, the entire town knew about it. Most of all I love how close everybody is, and how we band together. I could never live in the city! I'm glad Luke loves it here too, so we can stay here forever :-)

  2. Hi there! I stumbled upon your blog and had to comment on this post, because it describes where my husband and I live exactly! I grew up in the town we now live in, and I always joke that my family is famous here, because everyone knows some branch of my family. My husband moved up here for me when we got married, because he knew I loved it so much . . .so you're post really resonated with me!
I'm a Christian and got married last year - it's nice to find another Christian married person on here! Drop by my blog sometime, if you want to. I'll probably be keeping tabs on your blog now that I've found it.
