New Vacation Plans

I know I went back and forth all winter about vacation plans this year. I really wanted to go on a short trip for our 1 year anniversary. However, Luke will not have vacation time until a week after our anniversary. So then we thought maybe we'd just head to New Jersey for a weekend to go to Six Flags because we are amusement park junkies, and love to try new ones. But recently, my mom gave us a new, better offer.

My aunt, uncle, and two cousins just moved to Chesapeake, Virginia. It is about 30-40 minutes away from Virginia Beach. My mom thought it would be a great idea to visit their new house and stay at a place on the beach for a few days! We're not sure yet, but that's what we will probably end up doing. We're super psyched!!

We are planning on going sometime in the middle of August. Luke will have vacation time by then, and we will be done with the 2 big weddings we have to go to in August (which just so happen to fall on the same weekend!) So we will probably leave on Sunday (I'm thinking the 16th) straight from church. My parents run the sound/slides during church sometimes, Luke plays in the young adult band, and I help in the children's department. So we're trying to avoid being gone during church. We will probably just stay in VA until Friday. And we will drive there... It's about 9 or 10 hours from us. We are asking my grandma and my other Aunt and Uncle on that side of the family if they want to go too, so it might just be a whole extended family affair. I really hope it works out!

While we are there, we plan on spending most of our time plopped down HERE:
Building sand sculptures, laying in the sun, reading, playing, riding waves, and I would love to try skin boarding for the first time, too.

Me, Julie, Luke, and the cousins are talking about spending a day here as well:
While the parents go here:
(although I wouldn't mind checking Colonial Williamsburg out, either! I must be getting old)

And the women may even head out for a day trip here, since it's close too:
My mom also told me to save up money to go out to eat. "We're eating out every night. It's vacation, and we are NOT cooking!" lol, she cracks me up sometimes. I wouldn't mind just eating at our condo, but it is fun to go out sometimes. Thank goodness Luke and I started a vacation envelope last winter when we took Dave Ramsey's class! No credit cards, no sweat, no vacation debt! (totally didn't mean for that to rhyme. lol).
--------------
In addition to that little vacation, Luke's using his Saturday comp. time so we can take a little day trip this Friday. It means I have to miss the last day of VBS, but I'm sure I can easily find someone to cover my craft. Luke and I are leaving at 9, and heading down to Columbus. It's about a 2.5 hour drive from our house. We are going shopping and out to eat during the day. And I'm also going to try to convince Luke to stop by the Columbus Zoo, or something else fun like that. And then at 5, we are going to see the new Transformers movie at the Imax theater. Luke is so excited I don't know how he's going to be able to wait. The first Transformers movie is one of his favorites. So we are looking forward to that :-)

Now it's time for me to stop daydreaming about these trips, and get to work around here!! :-)

  3. I could do either Colonial Williamsburg or the amusement park. But those rollercoasters look too fun to pass up.

  5. Your vacation plans sound fun! We'll actually probably almost be close to each other in distance depending . . . Derek and I are going on vacation in August to North Carolina to visit his brother, and we'll proabably head up to DC a day or two as well!
