Wedding Wednesday: The Parties

It's time again for Wedding Wednesday! Today I thought I'd share a little bit about our bachelor and bachelorette parties.

We don't drink or "party," so we definitely didn't have typical bachelor/bachelorette parties. Luke's groomsmen and other friends took him to the Football Hall of Fame, which just happens to be about 30 minutes from where we live. Then they went to Quaker Steak and Lube to fill up on some wings. Next they went to play mini golf and drive go-carts. To finish off the night, they came back to his best man's house where they spent the night. They stayed up playing Play Station, eating lots of food, and they even had a chugging contest. Mountain Dew chugging, that is! They had a blast...see? You can have fun without alcohol!
My bachelorette party was the same night. We had it at Luke's apartment, which was soon to be my apartment too in a month. We ate good food, played fun games, and just had "girl time" and "girl talk" all night. It was so much fun! Of course there were awkward gifts involved, and I almost died of embarrassment. But it was all innocent fun.

And now I'm headed to Scott's funeral :-/ I'm sure it will be a hard day for everyone, but I'm trying to look at it as a chance to celebrate his life, and the fact that he is in heaven, away from the suffering and temptations of this world. I'm especially praying for Angela and his boys today, that they will know that God is in control, and that they will be comforted in His love.

After the funeral, there is a dinner at the church, and I think Luke and some of his friends might spend the rest of the day together afterwards between here and our neighbor/best friends' house. I think it will be good for them to be together and be there for each other today. They had gotten pretty close to Scott over the past year or two.

  1. Praying for you all today. I know funerals can be hard, but it is good to think of it as a celebration of life.
