Virginia Vacation

Guess what I will be doing around 5:00 or 6:00 AM this Saturday....? I'll be setting off on the road for our Virginia Vacation (Yes, I turned that into a proper noun, because I am just THAT excited!)

You all know how much I love to write to-do lists. So why not write a to-do list, or a set of goals, for what I want to accomplish while on vacation? I'm a planner! But I think these are fun goals, and I'm excited to try to accomplish them!

2009 Virginia Vacation To-Do List:
1. Try skim boarding for the first time.
2. Take a walk on the beach at midnight (bucket list)
3. Build a HUGE sand castle (bucket list)
4. Fly a kite (bucket list)
5. Ride a bike on the board walk (bucket list). We get bikes to use all week with our condo!! So excited about that :-)
6. Ride all of the following rides at Busch Gardens at least once: Alpengeist, Apollo's Chariot, Corkscrew Hill, Curse of DarKastle, Griffon!! (Most excited about that one!), Loch Ness Monster, and The Big Bad Wolf.
7. Watch at least one show at Busch Gardens
8. Explore the nature preserve beside our condo
9. Prepare two meals for the family during the week (spaghetti dinner, and poppyseed chicken dinner)
10. Visit Jamestown.
11. Get up early one morning and watch the sunrise.
12. Work on my photography and take hundreds of pictures. (Sorry, family!)
13. Try at least one new thing that I've never tried before, besides those things that I've already mentioned.
14. Swim in the condo pool(s).
15. Visit the nearby aquarium.

And I think that's enough. That list gives me a little framework of how I want to spend my time in Virginia. Has anyone who's reading this ever been to Virginia Beach? If so, is there anywhere that you would recommend visiting that I'm missing (We already decided not to go to Williamsburg, so other than that).

Be looking for posts next week about our adventures in Virginia: The beach, our colorful condo, our trips to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins, venturing to local restaurants, aquariums, and other tourist sites, and our day at Busch Gardens. I'll do a post when we get back about accomplishing the items on my to-do list. Oh, and be ready for lots and lots of pictures :-) I certainly won't be blogging every day, though. I'm going to try to limit my computer time, obviously!

I can't wait to take some pictures of our condo! I just love all the bright colors. Isn't it cute?
And we cannot WAIT to ride this new(ish) roller coaster: Griffon at Busch Gardens. Has anyone ever ridden it before?? What was it like?? (Of course, all the rides are new to me! I've never been there before. But Luke was there a few years ago, so maybe he can be our park tour guide for the day :-))
That's all for now! Hope you're not sick of hearing about my vacation already!

  2. Yea for your vacation!!! And yea for having a list of things to accomplish. (You and I are so much alike!) Make sure to relax too!

I live about 4 hours from VA Beach so I've been there but it was March and really cold. And really foggy for some weird reason. It was seriously like that movie The Mist. (Have you seen it? If not, don't. Well, idk you like supernatural scary movies, right? You might like it. But it is really weird.) My only recommendation is, if you want to eat seafood go somewhere a little inland. All of the ones along the beach are crazy expensive!!

  3. Have fun on vacation! If you are looking for the historicness of Jamestown, I recommend Yorktown instead! We did the whole Williamsburg vacation years ago, and we hated Williamsburg, was kind of indifferent to Jamestown, but we LOVED Yorktown! Very hands on!
